It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie “Googles” Cole. Mr. Cole was a past Mayor for many years and most recently an Alderman for the Town of Fulton. He was recently awarded with a well-deserved Hometown Hero award.
Mr. Cole was the original founder of the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department in 1948 and is also the founder of Fulton Oysterfest.
Mr. Cole, thank you for your dedicated commitment to the Fulton community that you loved so much; it will not be the same without you! We will miss you greatly.
We ask you please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

AUSTIN — Today Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) posted the final four of six draft Regional Housing Guidelines for the Homeowner Assistance Program for a federally mandated 30-day public comment period. The first two Regional Housing Guidelines released were the Central/Golden Crescent Region and the Coastal Bend Region. … READ THE ENTIRE PRESS RELEASE
Governor Abbott has heard from members of the community and the legislature on this issue. Communities and families are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey, and the Governor believed that a rate increase at this time would negatively impact residents of the Gulf Coast. The Governor believed it was necessary to delay any decision to approve or disapprove the proposed rate increase, and until the Legislature has had a full opportunity to address the matter.
